Voip Phone

Since Alexandar Grahm Bell invented the telephone having a phone in our homes has become a neccessity.  It is a means of instant communication between people that without it would probably not ever interact with eachother.  In recent years there has been an emergence of new technology called VoIP and millions of households have been dropping their traditional phone services for this new service.

Voip stands for voice over internet protocol – in plain English this means sending your voice over the internet.  What this entails is taking your voice and changing it into a digital signal.  That signal is broken down into tiny packets of information and then sent via the internet to the receiver of your call.  Once the call is picked up on the other end the data must be changed back into an analog signal so the receiver can actually hear your voice.

All of this happens in a matter of seconds.  Its really quite amazing that we can encode/decode this information so quickly.  In order to do this, you do need to have a high speed broadband connection so the voice communications can be sent and received fast enough.  Use our test to see if your voip connection speeds are fast enough.  If you have a poor connection or have interruptions you can lose packets of information which results into a choppy message or voice coming through.

Setting up your VoIP phone service is simple:

1.  First take a look at our voip reviews page and choose the best service provider for your needs.

2. Once you receive your voip phone adapter, plug it into your high speed internet service router.

3.  Plug in your home telephone to the phone adapter.

4.  You are ready to make calls over the internet.
