How to setup a voip phone

Setting up a voip phone is a very simple process. There are a few things you will need before getting started:

1. High Speed Internet Connection – You need to have at least a 256 kbps connection up and down to be able to use VoIP services. If you are not sure how fast your connection is, we have a free speed test setup at: VoIP Speed Test.

2. VoIP Provider Service – You will need to choose a VoIP Provider Service. There are a number of very inexpensive VoIP providers out there. I highly recommend you take a look at our Phone Power Review as they currently have a $199 2 year special (pre-pay for 2 years and it works out to just over $8 per month for unlimited calling).

3. VoIP Phone – It is very important to understand that ANY touch tone telephone can be used with your VoIP device. Now, even though your old faithful that has been sitting in the kitchen for years can be used, I recommend a cordless handset setup that has one base unit and multiple handsets. There are a number of these that can be found for under $50 (check Amazon.com for Uniden or Panasonic). This will allow you to plug the base unit into your VoIP device and then you can have multiple phones throughout your home.
